Solaris Express, Developer Edition is an OpenSolaris-based distribution that allows you to get early-access to the latest software from Sun. By using the latest build of Solaris OS, developers and sysadmins could benefit from the latest features of the Solaris OS.

For those wishing to install Solaris in Parallels for both Windows and Mac OS X, you can now download the Solaris Express, Developer Edition Appliance for the Parallels Virtual Machine 1.0.

The virtual appliance contains:

* Pre-installed and pre-configured Solaris Express Developer Edition
* Inetmenu 2.3.4 - a GUI tool to configure network
* An open source network driver ni.

The Solaris Express, Developer Edition consists of the following components:

* Early release version of Solaris 11
* Sun Studio 11
* NetBeans IDE 5.5
* NetBeans IDE Enterprise Pack 5.5
* Java Platform Standard Edition 6
* StarOffice 8

The virtual appliance is divided into 5 parts with each file taking around 700MB of disk space. A shell script is included with the appliance to join and extract the images and put all the files in the required location.
